About the workshops

This foundation workshop is ideal for all levels, including for those who are new to Tango, or who want to review core Tango technique. We will cover a wide range of the core Tango movements and steps, allowing you to get started with social dancing immediately.

No partner required, and we will match leader and follower numbers.

So:

• If you've always wanted to start Tango, this is your chance.
• If you've tried and liked Tango, but then didn't return because life got in the way, this will help you re-start your learning.
• If you're looking to revise and improve your core technique, this is the workshop for you.

Session 1: Connect and walk

Summary: Argentine Tango introduction: embrace, connection, and key lead-and-follow concepts.

Topics:

• Embrace + connection: getting in close
• Walking
• Moving to the music

Session 2: Core tango steps: ochos

Summary: Looking at leading and following forward ochos.

Topics:

• Moving in a flexible embrace
• Dissociation for leaders and followers

Session 3: Musicality

Summary:Listen to the music, dancing not marching

Topics:

• Basic phrasing
• Dancing to the rhythm and the melody
• Using decorations
• Tempo variations
