Saturday 13th November; Workshop - Tango Nuevo: Giros, Colgadas & Barridas

2pm - 5pm, Warners End Community Centre, Northridge Way, Hemel Hempstead, Herts HP1 3QG

Introduction

Our next "Tango Nuevo" workshop, using movements in a flexible embrace, focussing on Giros (turns), Colgadas (leans) and Barridas (sweeps), allowing you to combine and use all these steps in your dancing with style and elegance.

Giros are turning movements (in both directions), typically where followers walk around the leader in a specific pattern. Colgadas are leans, both partners leaning out from each other to enhance the momentum and style of the embrace. Barridas are sweeps, using the follower and leader legs to give the impression of gorgeous connected leg movements.

We'll look at these movements based on some simple steps, building to a spectacular sequence you can show off!

It's a fixed-partner, limited-number workshop, suitable for all levels, but mainly for those who have done some dancing before.

The Schedule

We'll have 15-minute breaks between sessions, to rest, practice, or ask any questions.

Booking

To book, contact David on 07767 784238, or Email dance@learningtango.com.

Cost: £30 per person or £50 per couple.

The Boring But Necessary Health + Safety Bit

We will have plenty of space for couples, and we'll ensure the room is well-ventilated, with lots of healthy fresh air. We limit these workshops to a maximum of 10 couples, and it's a lovely large room.

Please also bring your own refreshments and snacks to the afternoon, as we won't be able to provide these ourselves.

Rotation during the class

For this workshop, we'll return to rotating couples by default during the classes, as this gives the best way to learn the technique generally by dancing similar movements with different people.

However, if you'd like to stay in fixed partners, that's fine too - just let us know.

Lateral Flow Tests

We would ask you to take a Lateral Flow Test on the day of the workshop, to ensure that we're all happy and comfortable dancing with each other, especially as we're rotating couples.

You can order these tests, for free, from the government - link here.
